As if one pandemic wasn’t enough, I joined a team that set out to make a documentary about a completely different pandemic. Our experience with Covid made it much easier for us to imagine what people were going through during the 1918 Influenza Pandemic. It was heartbreaking story after heartbreaking story.
Serving as the Director of Photography on this project has been a delight. The stresses of directing and producing fall off into the darkness and a light from the heavens shines down on a camera. Pick up the camera and go make magic. It’s that simple. Being able to focus solely on the visuals is a great opportunity to flex my cinematic muscles. It is our hope that this film with air on PBS in late 2023.
